  1. I assume we will not meet with the authors for the full hour of the critique. How much time will we have with each author and will we find out which of our author picks we will be given before the day of the conference?

    1. Great questions. We cannot give you the name of the author you've been paired with until the morning of the conference. That's because we occasionally have an author who becomes ill, has an emergency, etc. and we have to shuffle people around. We'll do everything possible to get you one of the authors you requested. We're sure you'll find all of our authors very insightful and willing to help!

    2. Oh...and authors will divide up the time within their groups. You should get a nice chunk of one-on-one time with your author.

  2. Do you get to pick which agent you pitch, if you opt for that?

  3. When and how do I request which author I'd like to work with? During registration or at the Conference? Thanks in advance!

    1. We'll send out an email in a couple weeks. We wait until the last minute deliberately because sometimes our authors have to cancel and we want to make sure our roster is solid before we promise which authors are free for critiques.

  4. I didn't get a confirmation email from WFC when I registered several weeks ago, just a confirmation from PayPal that I paid. Should I contact someone about this?

  5. My cousin got her email about the critique session guideline, but I paid for a one-on-one author critique and haven't received an email. It's a week away, so I just want to make sure everything is squared away.

    1. Karena, if you haven't received this yet, please email us at writingforcharity@gmail.com. Sometimes the confirmation ends up in a spam folder, some people inputted their email addresses wrong, and some people forgot to fill out the online form that is linked above.

  6. What should we bring to our critique group? Do we need copies of our manuscript? How many?

    1. Six copies of your manuscript!

    2. How many pages do we bring? Sorry, I know I should have asked this sooner!

  7. Do we just bring one page of our manuscript for the critique group?

  8. I have to admit I felt... perplexed when I learned I would be sharing my twenty minute private critique with another writer. I feel like it should have been made clear much earlier on that the critique was not actually going to be a private one on one and that I was not actually going to get a full twenty minutes devoted to my work.

    1. Dear unknown, the private critiques are private and one-on-one with one of our published authors. We ALSO feature critique groups that are a group of five attendees with one presenter.
